Dental Implants Miranda

FACT: more than 240 million people around the world lack one or more teeth. The traditional method to replace missing teeth was either a fixed bridge or a denture, but times have changed.Dental Implants Miranda

What is a Dental Implants?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root surgically placed into the jawbone to hold a replacement tooth. This is a titanium screw in most cases and is anchored to the bone. The implant biologically fuses with the bone to provide a strong foundation for a bridge or crown to be placed upon. Benefits of dental implants include:
  • They can eliminate the need for removable dentures
  • They can provide stability for dentures
  • They can eliminate the need to use adjacent teeth

Can I have dental implants?

If you have one or more missing teeth, you may be a good candidate for dental implants. Good candidates should:
  • Have healthy gums
  • Have sufficient bone to anchor the implant
  • Be committed to brushing the implanted teeth every day and looking after the surrounding gums
  • Have good health

How to Keep the Teeth Clean After Teeth Whitening

Tooth Whitening

The only approved way to brighten the smile and eliminate extrinsic dental stains is through teeth whitening treatment. Our dentist offers several different types of tooth whitening to our patients, to ensure they are confident in showing off their smile.

Our dentist will apply a liquid or gel directly to each tooth, and activated with a special light or laser. This will abrade the teeth in order to remove extrinsic stains. Some treatments offer results up to eight shades brighter, however some patients may return for another to get to the level of brightness they desire.

How to Keep the Teeth Clean After Teeth Whitening

There are some ways that patients can ensure their smile stays white after their whitening appointment. Miranda Dental Centre  dentist recommends avoiding certain foods and drinks that are highly pigmented. This includes berries, pasta sauce, hard candies, and chocolate, as well as tea, coffee, energy drinks, and dark sodas. Bad lifestyle habits will also be harmful to the look of the teeth, such as smoking tobacco. Naturally, cleaning the teeth by brushing and flossing is vital for removing left over food debris and bacteria.

For more information about how to keep the teeth bright, or recommendations on whitening products, talk to our dentist before or during your whitening appointment.

Crown & Bridges - Miranda Dental Care Centre

Crowns and Bridges - Miranda Dental Centre - Dentist in Miranda - Sydney

Crown:

Crowns are prosthetic devices cemented onto existing teeth, essentially acting like a “cap” and are used to cover a badly damaged or decayed tooth. The purpose of a dental crown is to protect fragile tooth from fracture and give extra strength to the remaining tooth structure. Fractures, chipping and cracks frequently happen to teeth with large existing estorations, or teeth that under excessive load as in sleep grinders and people who clench a lot. It can also improve the physical appearance of discoloured teeth. Dental crown also provides perfect match to natural tooth colour and shape. At our practice, we do different types of crowns.

 Miranda Dental Care Centre

Crown is advised in following cases:
  • Replace a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth
  • Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment
The procedure of getting a crown requires a detailed impression of the tooth (or gum if the tooth is missing). The impression is then taken and will replicate the tooth, allowing a true duplicate of a tooth to be produced, from the minor details including the colour and shape. Finally, upon completion of the crown, it is fitted and permanently bonded to the tooth/teeth.
If you are suffering from tooth loss or damage, contact us today.

Bridges:

A bridge may be recommended if a person is missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite, also food impaction. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
Bridges are tooth-coloured prosthetic device which can be fixed or removable which is anchored to neighbouring teeth for support and replaces missing tooth/teeth. Dental bridges look and function like normal teeth and can be hard to distinguish from natural teeth. Bridges may also help reduce risk of gum disease and help correct biting issues.

Depending on the position of a missing tooth and surrounding teeth, there are various bridges available to choose from. A fixed bridge is when they are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. Fixed bridges are fixed and cannot be taken out of your mouth. The bridge is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the missing tooth area or teeth.
How long do Crowns and Bridges Last?
While crowns and bridges can last a lifetime, they do sometimes become loose or fall out. The most important step you can take to ensure the longevity of your crown or bridge is to practice good oral hygiene. A bridge can lose its support if the teeth or bone holding it in place are damaged by dental disease. Keep your gums and teeth healthy by brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice a day and flossing daily. Also see us regularly for check-ups and professional cleanings.
To prevent damage to your new crown or bridge, avoid chewing hard foods, ice or other hard objects.

Dentures - Miranda Dental Centre

Dentures - Miranda Dental Centre - Dentist in Miranda - Sydney

Conventional Denture :

Once many of the teeth have been lost, or decayed to the point that they are non-restorable; the best restorative option is sometimes a complete upper and lower denture. Dentures have the ability to restore a dentally compromised patient to a very esthetically pleasing and functional result.

Partials :

A great option for restoring a patient who is missing a few teeth in either the upper or lower arch is called a partial denture. This one removable appliance is designed to replace several missing teeth at once, and restore a patient to improved esthetics and function. There are two types of partial dentures, Metal Cast Partial Dentures in which the framework of the denture is of a high quality metal that is custom designed to lock on to the existing teeth. The other type is the Acrylic Partial Denture which provides a highly esthetic result. These dentures are fabricated entirely of acrylic material and snap into place around the existing teeth.
Implanted Supported Dentures :Many patients end up due to an overall lack of dental health needing upper and lower dentures. One of the biggest complaints for these patients is movement or instability of the denture, especially the lower denture. New technology offers a solution to this problem. By placing several dental implants in the jaw and placing custom attachments in the existing denture, it is possible for a denture to snap into place providing a secure, sound restorative option for denture wearers.
